Workouts with a Flare Up or Low Energy
Coming off 6 weeks of an unusual workout routine. Unusual because it wasn’t a program and wasn’t planned out. Going through a tough personal time meant that my workouts weren’t top priority. My energy was low and my flare ups were increasing due to stress. I decided to decrease the pressure and take it day by day.
For the first 2 weeks it was the peloton, sometimes a workout or sometimes just 45min of biking for movement. I decided in the moment what i thought my body needed and could handle at the time. I also took walks which was good for my mental health getting fresh air. Once things started improving I started doing some light weight workout videos. I did them mostly middle of the day, allowing myself to have slow mornings. The videos were mostly low impact and intensity but progressing to light strength training was a great way to get me back in the gym a few days a week and out of the house. I still had 3 dance performances each weekend so that took care of my weekend movement. Each week I tried to do a little bit better than the week before. I allowed myself to not plan ahead and go with the flow, something i rarely do but my mind and body needed. I tracked my nutrition as much as possible and stuck to my goals. I didnt beat myself down if i wasnt perfect.
This week I feel strong enough to get back to a strength training program, to plan ahead. I look at my schedule for the week and schedule my workouts according to how likely i’ll be successful.
Monday i have many early morning clients with a quick hour break in between so i scheduled a shoulder workout with the option to hop on the bike later in the day for movement.
Tuesday-deadlift, a light morning schedule allows me to maximize my energy and work legs first thing in the morning…at least that’s what i thought. A poor night sleep has left me moving slowly so far but i intend to still make it happen later today. But there’s also room for adjustments.
Wednesday-chest/tris
Thursday-squats
Friday-back and bi’s after early morning clients
This is my intention, doesnt mean its going to happen this way but i am setting my intention while leaving room for change. The workouts can shift days or times but the goal is to at least complete them all.
